“I appeal to you therefore, brothers, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual worship. Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.” Romans 12:1-2
This blog is not about me. If I wrote this so that I would receive all of the credit and praise, I would be miserably falling short of my purpose as a new creation.
Because of my God’s great love for me, I am new. I can now live a new life in Christ, free from the weight of sin and shame that I once bore upon my shoulders. But now, how should I live? What does my Savior desire of me now that I’m His? Is Jesus okay with my life being the way that it was but just with Him thrown into the mix, or does He desire more of me?
The easy answer is that now that I am alive to Christ, I cannot follow in my older self’s footsteps. As I continually live for the Lord, my desires will change. I will no longer crave my former sin. I will hate it. I will desire to walk with Jesus Christ and to become like Him. But how?
My purpose for this blog is this: to encourage fellow believers to live lives that are transformed for God’s glory. Through this blog, I pray that you will be encouraged as you walk the hard and narrow path.
In this world, there is so much pressure and so many lies that threaten our relationship with Christ. We must refuse to be concerned with the things of this world and must keep our eyes fixed on our gracious Savior. Although we will fall so many times, the Holy Spirit will always pick us up and guide us.
Instead of engaging in “civilian pursuits” (2 Timothy 2:4) and in the things of this world, we can work together as believers to spread the Gospel into our society, since we are now citizens of a heavenly kingdom. Let us work together to flee worldliness. Let us work together to end abortion and human trafficking. Let us work together to prepare the fields for the harvest by being fishers of men in our communities and in our world. Let us work together to become more like Jesus, thereby spreading His light throughout this broken world.
So, are you ready to join me in this marathon? Are you ready to chase after Christ with every aspect of your life? If so, let us journey together on this path of endless joy and strive to live for His glory, and for His glory alone; for He alone is worthy of all praise.
